Asian Food Pantry is open!
The Asian Food Pantry is a home-delivery program that brings culturally-relevant groceries to vulnerable Asian seniors living in low-income housing in the downtown Portland area. Created in March, when low-income housing was locked-down in response to COVID-19, the Asian Food Pantry is a collaboration between Clay Street Table (an Oregon Food Bank partner), The Asian Health and Service Center, and the Chinese American Citizens Alliance with support from The Giving Tree. Through their efforts, the Pantry has been able to deliver culturally specific foods to about 150 households, which allows their seniors to remain safely at home, rather than risk exposure waiting in food pantry lines.
