The Mid- Autumn Festival is coming up! This is a very important festival in Chinese culture. Learn more about this festivity by learning to make traditional Chinese moon-cakes! Mooncakes are eaten during the festival and include a pastry with a thin skin that is filled with various fillings along with a salted duck egg yolk (which represent the moon).
For this class, the instructor will teach the student to make two type of fillings; lotus bean paste and azuki bean paste. Student will take home a box of approximately 1/2 dozen moon cakes.
Recipe variation is available for gluten free and vegan!

Event will start at at 9:30 AM sharp, if you arrived after 9:40, you might not be able to join.
Mooncake Making Event
In consideration of participating in Portland’s Chinese American Citizen’s Alliance cooking classes (C.A.C.A. Portland), I acknowledge and understand the dangers and risks inherent in such activities related to preparing food, consuming certain foods and working with tools and appliances.
I hereby waive, release, and discharge C.A.C.A. Portland and its instructors, officers, employees and volunteers against any and all claims, demands, action or causes of action for costs, expenses or damages to personal property or personal injury, or death, which may result from my participation or child’s participation in these activities.
In the event of any lawsuit, the parties agree to submit any dispute for resolution by arbitration through Multnomah County Dispute and Resolution Center and any award rendered, if any, shall be final and conclusive to the parties.
I assume full responsibility for any injuries or damages resulting from my participation or child’s participation in this program including responsibility for using reasonable judgment in all phases of participation of the program.
I acknowledge that my participation or child’s participation is solely at my own risk, and that I assume full responsibility for any resulting injuries and damages.
I understand that it is my responsibility to notify the appropriate person in the workplace or event host(s) of emergency medical information and have informed the instructor of ANY food allergies/or dietary restrictions for myself or my child.
I also understand that this Waiver of Liability and Release binds my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns as well as myself.
I consent to and allow any use and reproduction of any and all photographs or videotapes taken of myself or child during their participation unless I have otherwise notified C.A.C.A. Portland.
I agree to their right to use or reproduce such photographs and videotape in any media including Facebook or the website. If I do not wish to have photographs used or taken, I will notify C.A.C.A. Portland in writing prior to class. Publicity non-consent forms are available upon request.
